    • Son of Isaac Chadwick Taylor and Ellen Taylor (nee Ball), of 269A Ormond Rd., Whataupoko, Gisborne.

      Father of Claude Taylor (4111) who served in WW2

      He embarked for South Africa first with his brother inlaw Fred Parker (2508 5th Contingent) and on the 2nd embarkation with his brother Walter Percy Taylor (5179).

      He was listed as a reserve with the rank of saddler with the 4th and 5th Contingents and embarked with the 5th Contingent

      In WW1 he registered for service and is listed as Labourer, 2nd Reserves, of 107 Crawford Road, Kaiti, Gisborne, Classification C.

      Four brothers and a brother in law served in 2 Wars. During the Anglo-Boer War: the elder George Frederick William Taylor (2709, 5434) embarked twice; his brother Sadler W Percy Taylor (5179) and their brother in law F. Parker (2508) also served in South Africa. The younger brothers Isaac Chadwick Taylor (10/2332) and Charles Taylor (25/145) joined up for WW1 and they both died.

    • When he embarked for South Africa it was with Fred Parker's older brother Frank Parker SA2508. Fred did not go to the war. Fred and William each married one of the Poswillo sisters.     Taylor.— At Cook Hospital on Dec. | 19th, 1949, George Frederick William (Buck) Taylor, aged 74 years, late of 7 Crawford Road, Gisborne (South African veteran) and loved father of Claude and Leone. A service will be held in Cochrane’s Private Chapel, Williams St., tomorrow (Friday) at 1.45 p.m., the funeral then leaving for the Soldiers’ Plot, Taruheru Cemetery..
