  • John Valentine was the son of Thomas Alfred and Elsie Theodosia Valentine.

    Volunteered for the Air Force in 1941 but was unable to join due to ill health

    Called up for the army 1942, marched in to Waiouru July 1942 for 1 month

    Found this life quite restful after 12 hours a day and a 7 day working week life

    Transferred to 21st Mobile Workshop at Featherston

    Narrative describes experiences of overseas duty at Maadi camp, Advanced Base Bari, Italy, EME
