William Langdon was the son of John and Mary Ann Langdon; husband of Kate Langdon, of 31 McKelvie Street, Grey Lynn, Auckland, New Zealand.

He was driving a small arms ammunition load to the defence stores and was thrown off when the wagon lurched going over a gutter and died in hospital shortly after admission.

LANGDON, William Manning, ASC Driver, suffered an accident at the Defence Office, Rutland St, on Friday, while driving a wagon load of small arms ammunition to the Drill Hall. He was a married man aged 43, married, with 2 children, a carpenter, living at James St, Arch Hill. Associated names: Dr KNIGHT, F V Fraser, SM, Albert Edward Palmer, uncle of deceased, Det Sgt Alfred Hammond, Lieut Samuel Mellows, Alexander James Bell, Dr D R Niven. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence and that the accident was due to the unsafe condition of the gutter at the crossing.
