  • Gordon was a wonderful grandfather to myself and my siblings Megan and Tim. He spoke very little about the war as he came back traumatised from the experience but he did take incredible photographs in Egypt and Italy which we found after his passing along with his journal. Each year on Anzac day we get out his photographs and remember him and the other brave men who lost their lives. The 24th infantry battallian honoured me with a financial contribution to my studies when I trained to become a counsellor 25 years ago. There was little support available for the trauma of war at that time. I think about that often when I support people now. Thank you for the opportunity to write this and share my memories. My grandfather was a wonderful man. How he could go on to live such a rich and wonderful life after what he went through is a miracle.
