    • Husband of Dulcie; father of Gregory, Rob, Kathleen, Jill, Marion, Charlie AWMM
    • In 1947 Charlie and Dulcie put me up whenever I came down to Whanganui for harriers. Before the war, Charlie had the amazing record of having won four consecutive NZ Cross-country titles (1935-1938). In the Wanganui Club champs that year, Charlie caught me up when I was leading, and advised me not to exhaust myself, as I would be able to sprint in the other runner who was close to me. He was right, and finished 3rd equal himself, a shadow of his former self. I would never have beaten him pre-war, even had I been his age and vintage. Public - Stanley Lawrence - Friend - 10 November 2015 - First-hand from memory. I also possess photos of Gregory, Kathleen and Gillian taken in 1947.
