    Served Compulsory Military Training at Waiouru December 1940, for 3 months.

    Volunteered for Scheme B service with the Royal Navy 1941.

    Was on board HMS Trinidad when it was torpedoed in Arctic waters.

    Promoted to Sub-Lieutenant.

    Commanded ML 1041 off West Africa in anti submarine defense of the merchant navy.

    Returned to New Zealand on leave 1945 aboard the MV Waiwera.

    Married June, whilst on leave 18 May 1945.

    Aboard the Mauritania in Sydney en route to England when war ended, returned by to New Zealand by RAF transport plane. AWMM
