  • Harry Rhoades' NZEF History Sheet records three mistakes, his date of birth as 1882, his birth place as Westcott and his surname as 'Rhodes'.

"On 25 April 1918 Harry Rhoades fell ill, suffering from trench fever. He was transferred to England and admitted to No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst on 13 May. At the beginning of June he was considered to be 'Seriously Ill', by which time he was diagnosed as having lobar pneumonia and pernicious anaemia."(Church, p.116)

Surname is recorded as Rhodes on the Nominal Roll, Rhoades in all other references.

The WWI War Memorial inside Holy Trinity Church at Westcott depicts the regimental badges of the soldiers who died, which is a rare embellishment. (Church, p.116) AWMM
