    • Robert Richards was the son of Isaac and Gertrude Richards, of Auckland, New Zealand. AWMM
    • At the time that Robert enlisted he gave his and his parent`s address as the Vicarage, Lawrence so I am puzzled by this Auckland reference. His Father Isaac was Vicar of St mark`s Remuera in the 1890s before he moved to Dunedin in 1895. He moved to Lawrence as the Vicar of Tuapeka in about 1900. Issac Richards was in lawrence- Waitahuna ie the Tuapeka for 16 or 17 years before he moved to Invercargill. In 1919 Issac Richards became Bishop of Dunedin.
I am intrigued that the record for Hugh Liddon Richards , 8/161 Robert`s brother refers to his Father as the Rt Rev`d (which he became in 1919, but at the time of his sons deaths he was the Ven Issac Richards and living in Lawrence. The deaths of H.L and Robert are recalled by a beautiful memorial cross in the Lawrence Anglican church.

H.L. enlisted in Milton- the nearest recruiting base to Lawrence at the time I understand. I wonder if Robert did the same Public - Vivienne Margaret - 10 February 2015 - Physical existence of the cross.
