      Cenotaph database record compiled from information in the Death Notice

      Member of the 'Goldfish Club'. Warrant Officer Luoni was serving with the 17 Fighter Squadron, on the 23rd September 1943, whilst providing cover for Fighter escort for American Bombers attacking Japanese Positions, in the Solomons, contact with the Japanese Zeros, meant that Luoni had to Bale out of the aircraft. Luoni spent 9 hours in the water before getting to a Japanese held Island and picked up when the Island was invaded (Goldfish Club). AWMM
