  • Served with the RNVR in WW1. Drafted from the 3rd Res. Battalion to Drake Battalion, Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (MEF), February 1916. Wounded in November 1916, admitted to 2nd General Hospital, Havre, invalided to England on HS. Carisbrook. 'A' Reserve Battalion, Blandford, April 1917. Drake Battalion, Royal Naval Division, British Expeditionary Force (BEF), May 1917. Transferred to Russian Armoured Corps in November 1917.

    During the Second World War, Macky served with the 1 Battalion, New Zealand Military Forces, he attested in Auckland 1941, commissioned Temporary 2nd Lieutenant 31 August 1941 (NZ Gazette 77). Promoted Lieutenant 25 June 1942, (NZ Gazette 64). Retirement posted 31 August 1944 (NZ Gazette 77).

    During WWI Served alongside Hanna and Woods. Reported as serving in the RNVR in September 1918 - it is understood that the RNAS men were transferred to the British Army with the merging of the RNAS/RFC & wound up serving with the British Motor Machine Gun Corps in Iraq 1918-1919 AWMM
