    • Husband of Nesta John (married 1945); father of two sons and a daughter

      Joined the RNZAF in 1938 and then joined the RAF in 1939 as ss commission

      Captained Sunderland Flying Boats on reconaissance, supply and transport missions to and from Malta. he was also based at Alexandria and flew on escort and anti submarine patrols, evacuated men from Greece and Crete.

      He remained with the RAF after the war AWMM
    • Mentioned in the Biography of New Zealand Victoria Cross recipient - Group Captain Leonard H. Trent VC DFC in the book of Trent's life - 'Venturer Courageous : Group Captain Leonard Trent VC DFC' (Chapter 19 : Valiant Days (pages 221-222).
      Then based with the RAF in England - "He (Trent) was delighted to find, too, that the Station's newly-appointed Wing Commander Administration was none other than his old cobber from Wigram (New Zealand) training days and Stalag Luft III experiences, Henry Lamond. The two New Zealanders, with so much to talk about in their re-union spent a lot of time together both in the daily duties of the Station and in the hours of relaxation".
