    • Wife's middle name incorrectly spelt as Mrs A.T. McKnight but was actually. Mrs Alma Isobel McKnight (Family Souce, April 2015).

      Reported as serving in this shore establishment in September 1918. Possible Palmer recruit. AWMM
    • George McKnight took part in the 1918 Zeebrugge Raid, one of the most gallant naval actions of the Great War.At the time George was Chief Motor Mechanic serving on CMB 15, a coastal motor boat with crew of four & capable of speeds of up to forty knots. The Zeebrugge Raid was an attempt by the British Royal Navy to neutralise the Port of Bruges-Zeebrugge used by the Germans as a base for their U-boats & was a serious threat to Allied shipping especially in the English Channel. George was awarded the Victory Medal, British War medal & 1914-1915 Star for his contribution. George Mcknight was well known in Otage athletic circles pre WW1 . He took out many provincial titles, represented NZ at the 1909 Australasia Games & in 1910 won the individual National Cross-Country Championship of New Zealand.George died on 31st March 1980 at Invercargill.
