    • Mary Blair was the daughter of William Newsham Blair (c1840-1891) a Minister with the Church of England and Mary Kennedy Blair (c1854-1940)

      She was educated at Victoria University College; BSc 1902 and London University School of Medicine MD, BSc.

      In 1909 she was appointed house surgeon at the London Hospital for Women.

      Her World War 1 service was in Salonika (Greece) with the Scottish Women's Medical Corps. This unit subsequently became a unit of the RAMC; then she served in hospitals in Corsica and France.

      She was later in charge of a WAAF hostel in England.

      She was an examiner for Strachan High School for Girls

      She remained in England and died in London. AWMM
    • Her father was engineer in chief and under-secretary of the Public Works Department. He was not a church minister though was active with establishing Dunedin's Knox Church. Her mother is believed to have accompanied her to her war posting but died in 1917.
