Daughter of David Scott (b Fife 1837-1902) and Mary Armit Scott (c1840-1921). Youngest of nine children

Educated at Christchurch Girls High School and University of Edinburgh, MB ChB 1909

Resident Medical Officer at Edinburgh Hospital & Dispensary for Women and Children (8 months)

Assistant Medical Officer for London County Council 1910-1913

MD Edinburgh University 1912

Returned to New Zealand May 1913 and was incharge of a large temporary isolation hospital in Auckland during the smallpox epidemic

Served in Serbia late 1915 with the Scottish Women's Medical Corps funded by the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies. At the time the British government rejected the services of women doctors

In February 1916 the Scottish Women's Medical Corps unit was captured and under guard was taken to Vienna then Switzerland, they were released and returned to England. At the end of 1916 the unit went to the Russian front in Rumania, being attached to the First Serbian Division in the Dobrudja ; they then retreated to Russia. Dr Scott remained with the Serbian army as medical officer til 1918

In 1919 she was attached to the Royal Army Medical Corps in Salonika and later in France

She was awarded the Order of St Sava Class III by the Serbian Government for her medical services

In 1920 she returned to London and again acted as assistant medical officer to the London County Council until 1922. She took up post-graduate studies in diseases of women and children

In 1924 she returned to New Zealand and intially held the position of obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Christchurch Hospital and later resigned to take up private practice

Dr Scott served the Canterbury and West Coast Districts of the St John Ambulance as Lady District Superintendent

During WW2 she was the deputy Chairwoman for the Women's War Service Auxiliary AWMM
