Kia Ora tatou katoa. I am Johns great grandchild. He died two years before i was born so i didnt get a chance to be held in his arms, which i wish i did. I am now 17 years old. This year, we were studying about ANZAC at school and at the back of my mind i knew Papa was in the army but wasnt sure which particular army that was. I though t he might of been apart of Ńga Hokowhitu-a-Tu but i his name wasnt popping up when i searched it on the site. Nanny Whakahoe Pene (Papas wife) died in 2011 at the age of 88. She loved Papa so much and missed him everyday. I would hear stories about him saying how much of a hard worker he was but then again i was too young to realise how special her words and stories were. All i wanted to do was play outside with all the cousins. I wish nan was still alive so i can ask her about Papa and many other things too. I miss her everyday, i bet Papa missed her as
