      In an unarmed twin engined Dakota, on July 25 ,1944 he was to pick up 5 Polish VIPs and their load of V2 components and technical drawings. The operation was code-named MOTYL.

      After the war he had a distinguished career as an academic and administrator at Victoria University, Wellington

    • The above mentioned return flight of over 2000km was from Brindisi in southern Italy to Zaborow in Poland. This being twice the distance of the bomber raids from England to Germany, and right across Nazi occupied Europe twice. Public - Stoney - Researcher - 5 December 2022 - Max Hastings' 'The Secret War' p427. NB Flt Lt Culliford is referred to in this book as 'Guy'.
