  • William Ralston was the husband of Maud Catherine (nee Jenkins), married 12 August 1914 in Auckland; father of 1 child Jack (b 24 March 1915) at attestation

    Although discharged as medically unfit after 111 days of training at Trentham and Featherston, Ralston seems to have struggled with military discipline. On 25 April 1916 he was given extra fatigues for disorderly conduct after lights out. Several weeks later "Making use of obscene language creating disturbance in tent after lights out" earned him 14 days confined to barracks. On the same day, 13 May 1916, he refused to obey orders and was given 42 days detention. AWMM
