  • Served with the 14th Regiment as Lieutenant during the New Zealand Wars. In 1863 was listed as a commandant in the Colonial Defense Force. In 1871 he, along with T. M. Haultain were appointed to investigate and recognise all who had served in the Wars with the New Zealand War Medal. After which he served as Resident Magistrate for Whanganui. In 1901, he died in bed at the room he was renting at the Awatere Accommodation House in Taylor Ford. He was in the area doing general work. He was buried at Taylor Pass Cemetery nearby and may have had a headstone however, many have been damaged and his grave is now unmarked. He was affectionately remembered as a "A zealous and smart officer". AWMM
