  • Private John Bicknell served with the ASC 2nd New Armies Supply during WW1.

    He migrated to New Zealand after the war with his wife Emily Ann Bicknell and children Evelyn (aged 13) and son Horrace (aged 7). They departed from Southampton, England aboard the NZ Shipping Company ship "Ruapehu" on 14 January 1921 and landed in Wellington.

    Howick and Pakuranga Times: Tuesday, 20 July 2010. John Bicknell's 1914-15 star was found in a stream in Lloyd Elsmore Park and, with the assistance of Museum staff, it was reunited with his family.
