  • Observed to force land in the sea a few miles North of the Island of Elba. Both he and his navigator F/Lt. Corbin, were seen getting into the aircraft dinghy, well within sight of land.

    They had started paddling before the aircraft which stayed to circle, had to leave and waved the pilot a cheerful goodbye.

    Reported in New Zealand Herald, 8 February 1943 as missing, and subsequently reported as a POW. AWMM

  • MY Granddad the only one i ever knew was such a source of peace and calm when ever around him always with a huge smile, i loved him so much and going fishing with him, such a gentle man, he will forever be in my heart, miss him RIP see you soon xxx
