Husband of Betty; father of four daughters and two sons

Squadron Leader Daniell had a distinguished military career with the Royal Air Force. He mainly flew Dakota (DC3) transport aircraft on active service both in the Middle East and Europe, including the towing of gliders during the Allied invasion of France in 1944 (D-Day) and the later airborne attack at Arnhem,Holland (Operation Market Garden).

After discharge from the the RNZAF he continued his flying career with the government owned National Airways Corporation (NAC) before starting up a privately owned airline, South Pacific Airlines of New Zealand (SPANZ), in 1960. When SPANZ ceased operations Rex Daniell moved to Australia and worked with Ansett airlines before retiring. AWMM
