George Connor was the son of George and Susan Helen Connor; husband of Elizabeth Agnes Connor, of Cambridge, New Zealand.

He attended Ponsonby Primary School and Auckland Grammar School. He graduated with B.A. from Auckland University College. He worked for the South British Insurance Company and was transferred to the Shanghai Branch in 1936 and then to the Singapore branch in 1940. He joined the local Straits Settlement Volunteer Corps in 1941. At the fall of Singapore he was imprisoned at Changi. He went with Group C to work on the completion of the railway between Siam and Burma. He died on the Burma side of Three Pagodas Pass on 3 September 1943. His body was buried there and reburied after the war at the Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery. AWMM
