  • Son of Angus James Sheddan and of Margaret Sheddan (nee McKee), of Waimate, Canterbury.

    Husband of Joan (nee Bex); father of Dave, Peter

    Brothers Alexander Bernard (NZ416210) and Cornelius (NZ412358) served with the RNZAF during WW2

    Squadron Leader Sheddan was a fighter ace credited with the destruction of 5 1/3 German aircraft and 7 1/2 V-1 flying bombs.

    In 1945 he was promoted to OC (Officer Commanding) 486 Squadron.

    He was also a member of the 'Goldfish Club".

    Named spelled variously Cornelious in Hanson; Cornelieus in Sortehaug. The Goldfish Club is an Association formed during WW2. Membership is open to airmen who have parachuted into the sea or whose aircraft has ditched into the water and who owe their lives to a life jacket or inflatable dinghy etc AWMM
