    Flight Lieutenant Youngs served three tours of duty in the South West Pacific Area during WW2. He was a pilot with 19 and 25 Squadrons and flew Kittyhawk and Corsair fighter/bomber aircraft.

    He served with the Royal New Zealand Air Force from 1940 to 1946 before joining the Royal Air Force in 1947.

  • Douglas Youngs was my uncle. Although I only met him a few times while he was alive, I found him to be a very unassuming man. He was a real gentleman and a credit to his generation. I now wish I had spent more time with him. He never talked about his Wartime duties with me. He was that type of man.
