  • George Gerrard Wreford Blandford was my Father. He was a Sportsman in Rugby, Swimming. Born on 20 July 1914 he went to Devonport District Primary School in Kerr Street. Then attended Seddon Memorial Technical College. Joined the NZ Horse Artillery and was at Trentham Military Camp. He married my Mother Olga Lilian Ruth Schulze on St Stephen's Day (Boxing Day) 26th December 1938. Dad was part of the 5th Field Regt. RNZA, 2nd NZ Division and shipped to Gt Britain on the Cunard Troopship Aquatania on 02 May 1940 from Wellington. The 2nd NZ Division were then sent to North Africa in 1941 and were shipped on the old City of London (Ellerman Lines). Dad got his Commission in OCTU in North Africa. Injured in 1943 was invalided home to NZ. I was born on 28th November 1944.
