    • Married Whareherehere (Dickie) Nihoniho in 1955.

      Educated at St Stephen's, Bombay, Auckland for 2 years.

      He was working on his Uncle's property at Maharahara Station at enlistment.

      He was repatriated to New Zealand from Stalag VIII B through Barcelona, Spain and shipped on the Cuba to Maadi Camp, Egypt, arriving in New Zealand on 2 February 1944.

      Served 4 years 162 days

      Three brothers served in WW2: Hubert George Baker (George) (25811), 28 Battalion; Howard Charles Baker (Bill) (12020) with the 6th Field Ambulance and Haare Baker (418225) with the Provost Company.

      Both Bill and George were on Crete, George was evacuated and Bill was captured. AWMM
