    11 October 1918 - Communication received from soldier states he [Samuel] is prisoner of war in Germany and in good health. Location not stated.

In honour of their patriotism and valour. In admiration of their sacrifice. And in grateful perpetuation of their glorious and ennobling memory this monument is reverently dedicated.
