  • Taken prisoner in Greece, archival staff sources state that the most likely place of capture was Corinth Canal. This estimation is because while most of 19th Bn. was evacuated, B Company 19th Bn. had been tasked with guarding a bridge from Germans and sent south to Corinth Canal, most were captured. He was, according to other historians of Stalag 18a, interned at 956 GW at Mitterdorf, a building work camp. His name was also scribed, signed by him, upon a piece of fabric by another internee who took that piece of fabric with 300 names on it back to Australia and subsequently lost the barracks list record. Another Australian found it and handed it in to a museum.
