  • Our local library in Hebburn, South Tyneside, England has very recently received photographs and letters from New Zealand sent by a lady who has been dealing with her mother-in-laws effects. I have had sight of the information but it is now with someone from our local history group. I will see them again soon. The contents seem to be mainly photographs and WW1 correspondence to and from members of the Battman family here in Hebburn. I have been researching the family and Cyril Newman BATTMAN was part of this family. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION as far as I can determine: The birth of Cyril Newman BATTMAN was registered in the March Qtr of 1910 at South Shields register office in the SS/Jarrow District in register number 50 entry 11. His parents were Gordon BATTMAN and Elizabeth (maiden surname RAYNE) [1911 census] Gordon & Elizabeth married in the December Qtr of 1908 in the Sunderland Distr
