  • Son of Charles and Sarah Bone, of 18 Glasgow Street, Wanganui.

    "A member of the Fifteen in 1914, will be better remembered on account of his swimming achievements. He left New Zealand with the Fifth Reinforcements, and landing at Gallipoli early in August, joined the Otago Infantry Battalion. He was wounded at Gallipoli early in August and invalided back to Egypt, but returned to Gallipoli again, and was there till the evacuation. He proceeded to France later, where he died on June 21st, 1916, as a result of wounds received at Armentieres." (In Memoriam, 1914-1918 [Wanganui Collegiate School]) AWMM
