    Proceeded overseas to France, 24 October 1916; posted to 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 27 October 1916.
    Promoted Lieutenant, 15 March 1917.
    Wounded in action, 7 June 1917 (gun shot wounds, thigh, neck, scalp); admitted to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 9 June 1917; transferred to NZ Stationary Hospital, Hazebrouck, 10 June 1917.
    Died of wounds, 12 June 1917.
