      "Lance Corporal Waetford, was a member of a patrol which attacked and destroyed ten enemy vehicles on the Barce-Derna road on the night of 29 November 1941, some one hundred and fifty miles behind enemy lines. He played his part in the action with courage and determination, and set a splendid example to the remainder of the patrol. Throughout his eighteen months service with the Long Range Desert Group, Lance Corporal Waetford's excellent work and constant devotion to duty have been outstanding." Beattie and Pomeroy. AWMM
