      London Gazette 18/02/1943. "Has rendered good service and taken part in each campaign to date. He has always been an outstanding example to his men in all circumstances, cool and collected under fire. He has shown great devotion to duty with 4 NZ Reserve Mechanical Transport Company in all it's functions particulary when troop-carrying up to the enemy positions. He has served continuously in the field with Army Service Corps units for the last 2 1/2 years including the recent Battle of Egypt, and his enthusiasm has never flagged. His standard of work and performance has been an inspiration both to his fellow officers and to the units that he has commanded." AWMM
