  • Son of Annie (Anne) Eames Chrystall (nee Inglis) and William Chrystall, Christchurch merchant.

    William married twice with Matilda he had sons Archibald and William. With Annie he had Gordon, Harvey and John

    Four sons, brothers served in WW1 Gordon Buchan Chrystall (7/619);Lieutenant John Inglis Chrystall with the 13th Hussars; Harvey Maitland Chrystall with the Royal Naval Division; Dr William Purvis Chrystall volunteer in the Malay peninsula; a fifth, Archibald Jeffrey Chrystall held a commission in the Territorials.

    The Auckland War Memorial Museum includes five of Chrystall's albums. Some images are included in Fenton, D., & Higgins, S. (2015). The Anzacs : an inside view of New Zealanders at Gallipoli. Auckland, New Zealand: Penguin.
