    His nickname "Nipper" was given by U.S. airmen on Nissan Island

    Known as "Inky" by his family, "Johnny" by his wife's family and farming friends

    After the war he farmed until June 1972. Then commenced work in the circulation department of the Waikato Times and then storeman for the New Zealand Dairy Company, Hamilton.
