  • Son of James Royston Callender, and of Beatrice Fullerton Callender (nee Stuart Forbes)

    Three sons, brothers served in WW2: Douglas Gordon Callender (NZ401721) killed; Hugh Callender (RNZAF); and William Stuart Callender (61320).

    In 1940 H.R. Callender was instructed to report to Levin Ground Training School as an Observer (18 June 1940, Evening Post)

    Captured in 1943 and was a POW in Camp 18A, POW number 8910 (RAF POW Records). AWMM
