  • Harold Edward Neale became a ranger in the Auckland Centennial Memorial Park and well-known member of the Piha community. An ex champion boxer he was a stocky solid man who had boxed as a light heavy weight or middle class weight. At Piha he was given the knickname "Porpy" because he saw like a porpoise. This later got changed to Porky Neale when he got a little rotund. He was involved in the RSA and many activities at Piha and at one stage managed the store.

    Report
  • In the official history of New Zealand in the second world war New Zealand Engineers Middle East, he is mentioned on p7 with the nickname Porky. I have seen him mentioned also in a private diary. He appears to be a boxer.
