    • Member of the College Rifles Rugby Football Club. He corresponded with the Club Captain, Stan Kirk writing 1 airgraph during WW2. AWMM
    • Met his wife Ursula Johnson who was serving with the British Army in Italy during WW2. Married in July 1945 in Trieste Cathedral which was serving as the NZ Army Garrison Church. After the war they went to the UK where their first child was born and then returned to NZ in 1946 on the Dominion Monarch. They had two further children in NZ - all three children (Heather Rogan, Martin Albrecht and Jenny Packard) now live in New Zealand.
