    Two sons, brothers served in WW1 George Edward King (13/2717) and Herbert James King (4816) AIF, KIA.

    Killed in action 19/20 July 1916

    Joined 54th Bn, Ferry Post, 20 April 1916.
    Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916.
    Killed in action, 19/20 July 1916.
    Statement, Red Cross File No 1520106, 4799 Pte F.N. HOBSON, 54th Bn (patient, 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, Kent, England), 26 April 1917: 'I was with him in a raid on front German trenches 19th July and saw him killed instantaneously by a shell. Of course he had to be left there.'
