Douglas Gordon Graham (Uncle Gordon) was in every way a true gentleman and a wonderful father. He was my blood Uncle through marriage (he married my aunt in 1941) . During his war years he was attached to the 35th Btn with the U.S. forces in Guam and Guadacanal on Intelligence operations. His bravery went unrecognised despite him performing some great missions. He returned to New Zealand and settled in Ramarama in Auckland on his own farm. On the farm he cleared gorse by hand and improved the farm to rear sheep. He sold the farm in the early 70's shifting to Remueranin Auckland. In his last days he residedbon the North Shore of Auckland.
I remember him for his deep voice, his love of animals, his children and later grand children. He led a very hard working life and was a true inspiration to everyone who came in contact with him including me.
Fondly remembered and never forgotten.
