  • He was the son of Warwick and Mary Savage, of Burslem England

    Husband of Madeline Savage, of 6 Orakei Road, Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand.

    Father of Warwick Copeland Savage, Victor Thomas Copeland Savage, Alys Copeland Savage and Peter Copeland Savage.

    Awarded Gold Medal in anatomy 1898 and in surgery 1901.

    He moved to New Zealand for his health.

    He registered 21 October, 1902, Wellington and Auckland and was Auckland's first full time surgeon.

    He was the Honorary Surgeon at Auckland Hospital 1905 - 1913 then consulting surgeon.

    No.2 New Zealand Stationary Hospital was made up of 8 officers, 87 other ranks and commanded by Lt. Col. Parkes. Major Savage was appointed to be the Senior Field Officer.

    Within 24 hours of arriving in Cairo he contracted cerebro-spinal meningitis and died just weeks later.

    In the old Auckland Hospital (since demolished 1964) there was a memorial plaque
