My name is Blair Macdonald; I am the son of Robert (Bob) Macdonald former owner of Gowan Hill Station (near Nightcaps), south of Mossburn.
My Dad used to talk a lot (very highly) about a Sandy Reid who worked for him as a musterer (shepherd) on the station from time to time (1950's - to 70's).
I can only relay what Sandy told my Dad – Sandy was before my time.
Sandy was left for dead on Crete, and was stitched up by a German doctor, and spent the rest of the war as a POW.
Dad would also tell of how Sandy was (severely) beaten by a Nazi officer.
