  • Bill was my uncle. My mother, his sister Patricia (née Barnham, married Davies), is the lady clinging onto the fence rails in the photo.

  • Poppa (Bill) inspired me to join The New Zealand Army, I then went on to serve with The Australian Army too. Poppa was a great man and a huge loss to me personally, both as an awesome Grandfather and as a fellow Soldier. How fitting that he was born on Guyfawkes Day and passed away on ANZAC Day during the Last Post - a Soldier in every sense of the word. Lest we forget.
