    Served with the British in West Africa and South Africa

    Appointed permanent Assistant Infantry Instructor, Featherston Camp 1916

    Commandant Trentham Military Camp until 1919

    In 1919 he was demobilised and posted to the Retired List with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
