  • Edgar Neil Derbidge married Joan Fey Cantrell (maiden name) Roughly six months before Edgar went to war.I guess Joan is not absolute blood related because she adopted my father (Richard Neil Derbidge) around 1947-48 after the war.But to me she is my Grandmother and always will be.I guess my only real contribution is that I have photos of Edgar in uniform before he departed.I tried to get as much information about Edgar from Joan, but,as you can imagine, she didnt speak much about him.I can understand why! She only told me that he was a good man etc.I believe Edgar was a clerk working in Lyttleton before the war.I wish I could have met him.I feel I know him even though we never met. He and all the men that died on or from wounds from the LI-WO battle are absolute heros. May there souls R.I.P.
