Mervyn James Beauvais

Mervyn was a dedicated return veteran. Never missing an ANZAC march. He served in the navy on the Gambia. He was on this ship, in the North West Pacific , when America dropped two atom bombs on Japan. The Gambia was one of the first two Allied vessels to sail into Tokyo harbour after the incident when Japan surrendered. I wore Uncles uniform to a school function at Eiffelton, Mid-Canterbury. It made me feel very proud to be wearing a dress uniform, belonging to my courageous Uncle. Lest We Forget .
