    Private W. W. Shelton, died of wounds on August 12, was the second son of Mr. F. Shelton, of Hardinge Street. He was a native of Auckland, and was educated at Nelson Street School. He was 29 years old, and had been working in the Kaiwaka district for several years before going to the front with the seventh reinforcements. His elder brother, Private Fred. Shelton, who went with the fourteenth reinforcements, was wounded at the Somme last October, and is now at Codford Camp. (Auckland Weekly News, 20 September 1917, p. 19) AWMM
