    Originally from Wainuiomata, where his family farmed, and in his adult life in Lower Hutt.

    His family, Burt, were early settlers in the Hutt Valley, Wellington.

    Foundation member of the Hutt Valley Master Builders' Association.

    Served with the National Reserve 1940 - 1942
