  • Son of Joseph Bensky and Betsy Bensky who lived in Australia

    He married twice. His first wife was Muriel and they had a daughter named Naomi Judith Bensky.

    His second wife was Joan Ivy (m 1947) and they had two children Janine Ann b 1949 and Brett Benjamin b 1951.

    Educated at James Street School, Perth, Western Australia.

    He was first a PT Instructor based in Rotorua, then he was accepted for service with the Air Force and was based overseas in Canada and England. He served as a Navigator and Bombardier flying Lancasters over Germany.

    He founded the firm Barnett-Barnett Limited in 1935. It was the largest furniture retailer in New Zealand.

    1932 - 33 he was the Western Australian Wrestling and Boxing Champion. he was a Surf Lifesaver at Cottesloe Beach in Perth.

    In his later years he enjoyed golf and snooker.
