  • Son of Walter & Rachel HOSIE, of Manaia, Taranaki

    He flew over 60 sorties and flew with 75 Squadron and 617 (Dam Busters) Squadron, including the operation with 617 Squadron in the September 1944 attack on the Tirpitz.

    The bomber he was a crew member of was shot down after attacking the Kembs Dam, Rhine River, Germany. Four of the crew, including Hosie, survived the crash but were then taken back to the river Rhine and shot while POW.

    Next of kin details compiled from information in the Casualty Lists published in the newspapers.
